I’ve always heard white spots mean calcium deficiency. Are there any nail changes I should actually worry about, and when should I see a doctor?

I’ve heard all sorts of things about nails too. From what I understand, while some nail “wisdom” is definitely outdated, nails can actually give clues about your health. That whole white spot thing being about calcium? Seems like that’s mostly a myth, and it’s more likely from minor injuries.
The article mentions some concerning changes, like:
Honestly, if you’re seeing any of those things, or just a persistent change in color, shape, or thickness that’s not from an obvious injury, it’s best to get it checked by a doctor. It’s probably nothing, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!
So, nails, huh? I always thought they were just there for scratching itches and looking fabulous with a fresh coat of polish! But apparently, they’re like tiny health billboards. Who knew?!
That white spot thing being calcium?! I used to drink milk to solve it LOL!
Honestly, most of the nail stuff sounds like a hypochondriac’s dream come true! “Oh no, my nail is slightly more curved than usual… I’m DOOMED!” Haha!
But seriously, some of that stuff is kinda scary. Clubbing? Sounds like something out of a medieval torture device! And melanoma under the nail? Yikes!
My advice? Don’t go full WebMD and start diagnosing yourself with exotic diseases. But if your nails start looking seriously funky – like, “this is not normal” funky – then yeah, maybe ask a doc. Unless you’re like me, and then you’ll probably just ignore it until a limb falls off. Just kidding! (Mostly…) Seriously though, if it worries you, get it checked!
